Gawain is a 5★ Nature Knight who plays frontline bruiser, not dedicated wall. Tier placements tell the split: A DPS / B Tank in Raids, A Tank in PVP, but only B Tank / C DPS in PVE and C / C in Brawl. She spikes when enemies are loaded with buffs and when her own HP stack is finished. She is average when those conditions are missing.
Tempest Strike is the payoff. At Transcend 5 it deals 1032% of Attack to all enemies, applies Stunned for 4 seconds, and gains +35% damage for every buff on the enemy target, on a 36s cooldown. That rider is the raid identity. Bosses and adds that pad themselves get deleted harder. Green Gale Frenzy, the active, is the same idea on a shorter fuse: 672% of Attack to all enemies, 1.5s stun, +10% damage per buff, 10s cooldown. Skill priority ranks Passive 2 over Passive 1 over Active and Ultimate because the HP passives are what keep her standing between those casts.
Surge (Passive 1) at T5 is HP +88% and Additional Damage +15%. Resolution (Passive 2) is Healing Received +25% and another HP +88%. Stacked, that is a massive personal health pool plus better heals. Dian Cecht is the named synergy for a reason. Neither passive buffs the party. She soaks and hits; she does not enable.
Named gear mirrors other front knights on this site: Fragarach (Attack %, Crit DMG %), Merlins Robe (Block %, Crit Res %), Red Hare, and Rune of Focus (HP %, Crit DMG %). Cards lean Holy Sword's Blessing (Ethan) and Knight of Purity (Galahad). Build HP and crit damage together so the AoE multipliers crit while the bar holds.
The stun package is secondary value. A 4s full-board lock from Tempest Strike plus a 1.5s lock from Green Gale Frenzy every ten seconds is enough to interrupt cast bars in PVP and to freeze add waves in raids, which is why Tank climbs to A in PVP even while Brawl stays C. She still wants a healer who can cash the +25% healing received. Without that, the double +88% HP is just a larger bar for the boss to chew.
Invest to Transcend 5 if you need a Nature frontliner for raid DPS or PVP tank duty. Skip deep investment if your account already has a real support tank and you only needed a story clear. Without enemy buff stacks, the 1032% ult is just a large number on a long cooldown, and the tier list's B/C placements show that gap.
