Overview

Strengths

  • Barrier at T5 is an 80% HP team shield plus +52% Defense for 15s on a 15s cooldown, near-permanent party padding.
  • Tidal Break hits all enemies for 1113% of Defense, applies Attack -24% for 8s, and adds a 200% DEF team shield for 20s.
  • Protection is +88% Defense on self and +52% Defense to all allies, the whole party’s armor floor.

Weaknesses

  • Raids rate him D as a tank; single-target boss patterns outpace or ignore the shield cycle.
  • Brawl is only C. Short rounds punish a kit that wants multiple Barrier refreshes.
  • Damage scales off Defense on the ult only; he is not a hybrid DPS seat if you need frontline kill pressure.

Extra copies

Prioritize the character card ahead of Transcend when copies are tight. Card effects matter more early; then push Transcend to finish the shield and Defense passives.

Transcend stop

Stop at Transcend 5. Adamantine’s on-hit Attack shred and the full Defense/DR numbers want the last rank.

Percival is a Frost Knight who actually tanks. Front line, Defense-scaled ultimate, layered shields, party Defense aura: this is the rare kit where the tank label matches the buttons.

Barrier is the everyday survival button. At T5 it gives all allies a shield equal to 80% of Percival’s HP for 10s and Defense +52% for 15s, on a 15s cooldown. Uptime is basically “always,” which is why PVE and PVP love him. Skill priority in the brief is flat across the board, Passive 1 = Passive 2 = Ultimate = Active, because every piece is load-bearing.

Tidal Break is the ult: 1113% of Defense to all enemies (yes, Defense, not Attack), Attack -24% on them for 8s, and a team shield equal to 200% of his DEF for 20s, 34s cooldown. The damage line is real for a tank, but the Attack shred and the second shield are why you press it. Stacking Defense% inflates both the hit and the DEF-based shield.

Protection at T5 is Defense +88% on himself and Defense +52% on all allies, permanent party armor. Adamantine adds Damage Reduction +15% and Critical Resistance +15% on him, and at Transcendence 5 his attacks apply a stacking Attack -5% (max 2 stacks, 1s duration) to one enemy. That on-hit shred is a T5 unlock, which is why the investment stop is Transcend 5 even when the card comes first.

Gear on this site: Fragarach (Attack %, Crit DMG %), Merlins Robe (Block %, Crit Res %), Red Hare, and Rune of Focus (HP %, Crit DMG %). The Attack/crit lines look odd on a pure tank until you remember Tidal Break still wants some offensive stats for the DEF-scaled hit and Adamantine’s Attack shred to matter in PVP. Cards listed are Knight of Purity (Galahad), Holy Sword's Blessing (Ethan), and his own Prydwen.

Mode split is sharp: S+ Tank in PVP, S in PVE, D in Raids, C in Brawl. Arena and story content reward permanent Barrier uptime and Attack debuffs. Raid bosses that ignore or outpace the shield cycle, and Brawl rounds too short to recycle Barrier, dump him down the list. Card-first investment, then Transcend 5. Do not park him at T0 and expect Adamantine to finish the job.
